10:30 a.m., prior to
this business meeting. 3 GSR's attended plus others were in attendance,
Rick H.,
Paula C., & Duane R., along with our Area Chair, John T., & other
members of
NA.. The agenda was read & formatted by John T. although he did not
partici-
pate in the questions except for keeping things rolling & on track.
The group
decided to make a contact list for newcomers to feel more welcome &
to
provide them with somewhere to turn if questions arise, & to have Area
Chair or
Alt. Area Chair contact them to go over guidelines & such, lots of hugs
& that
kind of stuff. We discussed that we should not hold on
to any money ( EX.:
60% area, 30% region, 10% world ), or at least be working towards that.
We
discussed better communication at every level, maybe from groups " This
is what
we would like to see you do for us. " We discussed having a concepts
work-
shop. Some work is happening from H & I, we would like to see more,
but we
need more involvement from members in NA. We discussed PI, we would like
to see more published. We also discussed our involvement with
regional level.
We feel as though we are not involved enough & decided to go back to our
home groups for the GSR's to get e-mail addresses to request to be on the
mailing list : wyomingna.org .
6. GSR Reports - Donations to Area
A. Living Proof Group - Hi WWASC : The Living Proof Group is doing well
We are still holding 6 meetings a week in Evanston & are all being opened
up & cleaned up, with newcomers attending & old timers
celebrating
multiple years. The Evanston Health Fair was last month, it was a
lot of fun. We had 4 addicts who were there participating. We
only used 8 IP's & 1 Spanish white
book. The group would like to donate these IP's & the white
book. We are
not asking for reimbursements. Also we have some addicts posting flyers
of
our meetings around town.
Our group is proud to announce that we are holding our 16th annual
Birthday Party with speaker jam on Dec. 4th, 2004. I have flyers, so if
you
didn't get one, ask me. Also we would like to host the next WWASC meeting
in Evanston on Dec. 4th, 2004.
We received a bill to renew the P.O. Box. The bill was $38.00, for
another
year, so we are asking for a reimbursement of $19.00 for half. We do have
a
lit. order of $94.00 & have a donation for $36.00.
In Loving Service, Rick H.
B. Serenity Mainliners Report - Hello everyone & Happy
Halloween! I hope
this finds everyone well & at peace. At out last meeting I did the
secretary's
report & found it to be very hard. I hope everyone got the minutes I
sent out.
They were on our computer, the motherboard died & I no longer have them
on file. I hope someone can step up to this job soon. It is a lot
of work about
once every two months, but it is very fulfilling. Stepping up to do
service
work is very rewarding.
Our group is doing well. We have 3 meetings that are posted in the Rock
Springs Marquee every Wednesday (correctly now). Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
for 1 hour. This meeting has an average of 27, & is an "Ask a
Basket"
meeting. Friday night at 8 p.m. for 1 1/2 hours. This meeting has
an average
of 12, & is a "Gratitude" meeting. This meeting is also a
candlelight meeting.
Saturday night at 8 p.m. for 1 hour. This meeting has an average of 12,
& is a
"Just For Today" topic meeting. Saturday meetings are starting
to grow with
newcomers & out of town people. We are hoping to start up another
meeting
soon. Details will be forwarded to area as soon as we get it
started. We have
added Robin B. as a new alternate chair to our group. Our group has been
diligently looking for a new location. We need to move because the
building we are in right now is being torn down. It has been very
nice to have a facility to have functions in, with enough space to accommodate
our needs. We will let area know as soon as we find a new place. As
soon as we can afford it, we will be donating to area, region &
world, due to the moving & finances right now there is no donation at this
time.
In Loving Service, Paula C.
C. Surrender To Win - Hello,
Ellie here representing the Surrender to Win group of
Narcotics Anonymous.
Meetings in the basement on Monroe Ave. Church are being open mostly on
time, & the message of recovery is being carried to the best of our
ability. We
have a couple of announcements: 1st of all we are proud to say that we
now
have an Alt. GSR, Cheryl C. has taken the position & we're grateful to have
her.
Also if all goes well with the church & this is approved by them, we intend
to
begin opening the Sunday night candlelight meeting at 8 p.m. rather than 8:30.
If & when this is approved by the facility that we rent, we will have a
flyer at the
next area business meeting & will begin the tentative change on the 1st
Sunday in Jan., 2005. As a group we are brainstorming &
researching places that we could use to host a function & business
meeting. We had several new ideas at the last business meeting & will
hopefully come up with a solution. Some of the ideas include the Sweet
Dreams Inn & the bowling alley as well as checking once more into the
Island Pavilion & the guidelines for deposit since we are a non-profit
organization. We will let you all know what we come up with so we can
host the meeting. Also, we were wondering if the Area may be able to help
us send a jail pack into the Sweetwater County Jail in Green River from
World Service, & if the Area can help us start a meeting in Manilla at the
jail. Although they are barely in Utah, we are the closest group to
them & this
facility needs assistance.
We have a donation of $50.00 to give the Area.
In Loving Service, Ellie E.
D. 5th Street Group - Meetings
are being opened on time & as scheduled.
Attendance varies. We added a new meeting on Tuesdays at noon. It
is a step
working guide meeting. Been making donations to the Area.
In Service, Duane R.
E. Free At Last Group - Afton
Wy. 40th E. 5th Ave. Thursdays at 8 p.m.
Our
meetings are smaller, we have 3-8 people. We read "It Works, How
& Why"
Margie
F. Living Clean Group - At our
last business mtg. we agreed to donate 25% of our
income
to World ( $3.21 ), 25% to Region ( $3.21 ), 50% to Area ( $7.00 ),
which we gave to Margie today! 10/16/04. Mtg. attendance is on an
average of
about
4 right now. In the process of making new mtg. lists & posting around
town
for it to be available more. We, The Living Clean Group, are getting
ready
to
celebrate out 3rd year in the making & made a proposal to the area business
meeting in Evanston for February. We still have the same trusted servants
-
Philip
GSR, Virginia Alt. GSR , Richard Secretary, Katie Treasurer. Mtg's are
being
opened on time. We've been looking & spreading the word to get new-
comers to
get involved with service. New openers would be appreciated.
We are spending our $, lots of literature,
books 4 sale, It Works How & Why, Just For Today, & basic
texts. Medallions have been purchased for home group members who
celebrate clean time.
Thank you for your time & service as well!
We appreciate you too!
GSR Philip B., Alt. GSR Virginia S.

11. P I Report - Hello everyone, PI is going well. We had our
1st Committee
Meeting at the last Area Meeting
& it went well. We have begun many projects that
are PI related. We also had a
Health Fair that we participated in that went well. A
phone list for committee members was
compiled as well as a list of places to spread
the word of NA. Budget $500
was unable to get exact amount spent from treasurer.
It is approx. $100 depending on the
amount spent for health fair. New budget carry
over from this year + $400.
This is to carry out current plans plus keep them running the coming year as
well as the next year's health fair.
In Loving Service, Lonie L.
PI Report from Evanston - On
Saturday the 25th of September the Living Proof
Group participated in the Uinta
County health & business expo. The turn out was
good, & we had a good
location. We didn't use as much literature as in the past
years. But many of the public do
know that we exist & are willing to help any
addicts. Some of the public inquired
about Spanish speaking meetings. One addict
explained that even if they only
understand a little English that they are able to
understand the gist of what is being
shared.
In Grateful Service, Sue S.
12. H & I Report - Hello ASC members, Since our last ASC meeting your
H & I sub-
committee has been to the WSP's
maximum/medium units & the ITU twice. Our
regularly scheduled day to visit will be
the 2nd Saturday of each month weather
permitting. The response from the
medium & ITU have been very favorable.
Maximum unit attended the 1st go but chose
not to attend the 2nd time around.
This may be due to the inner working with
communication between penitentiary
staff. Each time we have gone there
seems to have been a lack of knowledge we
were coming. I am sure this will
smooth itself out. Both the medium & ITU have
expressed a great deal of gratitude that
we are once again carrying the message of
recovery through NA to those who cannot
attend regularly scheduled meetings.
The H & I sub-committee needs addicts
willing to commit to this panel. Forms are
available for those who would like to be
considered to attend penitentiary meetings.
All addicts that are attending H & I
meetings supported by WWASC are required
to fill out our area forms.
In friend & fellowship, Rocky A.
Evanston County Jail Report - The jail meeting
is going well, with an average of 6 -
15 addicts / inmates in attendance for the men's
meeting. We have 5 addicts giving
their commitment to this sub-committee.
Lit. is layed out & it goes fast. Women's
meeting is going well also with only one problem
of an addict giving their phone
number to an inmate. It was handled
appropriately. There are about 2 - 10 inmates
in attendance & 4 addicts that have gave
their commitment to this sub-committee.
The inmates are requesting NA books. At
this time our budget has been working
very well, with the $30 a month & $360 a
year. We would like to keep this budget
the same.
In Loving Service, Rick H. LPG
Living Proof - donated 7 books with only 1 left in
Evanston County Jail.
Cheryl - interested in going into H & I - talk to
Rocky & Rick
6 months clean time to go in, 9 months to share for county level, 2 years out
& 2 years off probation & parole for state level.
13. Phone Line - letter sent to John T.
I apologize not being able to make the ASC or PI meeting.
We've
had one message recorded on the phone line since the last WWASC
meeting. The call was from Steve Roth, in
charge of Program Assurance at Frontier
Correction. They have facilities dealing
with juveniles in Casper & Cheyenne & have
had NA involved in the program in Casper.
He said that they've had a good response
from the people leaving the program in Casper,
as then they have a contact in the
community & have been able to make it to
meetings, & wanted a contact for their
facility in Cheyenne. I was able to get a
hold of an addict ( Bill S. ) in Cheyenne to
pass on the information to have someone there
contact him, as this is out of out Area.
The new Qwest
phone books have come out in Evanston & I have included in my
report a photocopy of the new listing ( along
with a copy of the old listing ). The
listing has the phone number & the listing
under "N" for Narcotics Anonymous rather
than "W" for Wyoming Western Area of
Narcotics Anonymous, for ease of use in
actually finding the listing.
I was able to
attend the Evanston Health Fair with a few addicts from the Living
Proof Group & was able to help pass out
information regarding the phone line to
other people in attendance there.
As for my budget,
I am requesting to use the rest of the allotted $450 from the
initial budget request. I'm assuming that
since most groups & members have called
the number to verify that their meetings are
listed correctly the cost of having the
number 866 number will decrease. When
possible, to help keep costs down on the
phone line, please check the number by calling
the (307) 789-3208 number. As long
as we keep the phone line for the contracted one-year
we will receive the deposit of
$110 refunded back to us ( then keeping me
within the original projected budget of
$450 ).
Please make sure that the meetings are updated on the website,
because that is where I've been pulling the
information to put on the phone line. I
preferred to do it that was as I assume that the
website is kept current at least on a
bi-monthly basis, hopefully following the ASC meeting.
If you have any questions, please feel
free to contact me at: (307) 444-7569 home
(307) 789-3710 Ext. 3044 work or via
e-mail masmith@allwest.net
In Loving Service, Mark S.

14. Web Report - Web activity over the last 2 months has been routine,

on NA events.
